Here are a few places I’d recommend visiting
Food
Island Naturals stocks local fruit
South Kona Fruit Stand!
Maku u Markets in between Pahoa and Hilo on Sunday.
North of Kona Area:
KUA Bay – Swimming *Medium Difficulty, Busy, good waves.
Waikoloa Beach – Swimming * Easy. Inside the resort area, but is public access.
Hapuna Beach – Great Swimming. Busy, but Huge beach!
FAR North Island – Pololu Hiking Trails
Waipio – Waipio Valley currently closed to Locals only.
Waipio on Horseback – WOH Ranch for great Horseback tours. Ride through Food Forest above Waipio.
South Kona
Manini Beach – A House Nearby with Kayaks outside has affordable kayak rental. Kayak Kealakekua (captain cook bay) in the morning for a chance to see spinner dolphins.
Magic Sands Beach
Place of Refuge- Pu uhonua
Two Step beach next to place of refuge.
Hilo Area:
Rainbow Falls at Wailuku state park
Kaumana Caves
Richardson Beach Park – *Find the sleeping Turtle in the Lava made pools
Sweet Cane Cafe for Vegan treats.
Suisan for Poke bowls
Pahoa Area:
Maku’u Market – SUNDAYS ONLY
MacKenzie State Recreational Area – Mermaid Ponds
Pohoiki Hot Ponds
Kehena Black Sand Beach – Clothing Optional
VOLCANO
Awesome hikes if you drive to the left first
Nahuku – Thurston Lava Tube
Hike to the PUA Kīlauea Iki crater
Kīpuka Puaulu Trail
Then finish with the Volcano viewpoint to the right
