New Mulberry Under the Old Walnut

 In conservation, food-forests, Portfolio

We completed an edible landscape installation for a wonderful new client on Salt Spring Island. We helped them prune their Fig Tree, and they asked us for help with their yard. There was an overgrown space under an old Fig Tree, and a bare patch under an even older Walnut Tree. The Client looked at our list of the best berries for the Pacific Northwest and selected Mulberry, Goji Berry, White Currants, Artic Kiwi, Native beach strawberries, and Eleagnus. We also threw in Tayberry & Raspberry.

They also wanted a herb garden, so we planted a culinary & medicinal herb garden under the Fig Tree. This included Greek Oregano, Purple Sage, Big Leaf Sage, Chives, Thyme, Lemon Thyme, Golden Thyme. We also planted perennial drought-tolerant herbs for the hummingbirds and pollinators. These included Echinacea, Cinquefoil, Bee Balm, Catnip, Lavender, and Yarrow. We finished with the Garden Awakening inspired living Mulch.

Today we planted the new Mulberry Guild
